Traffic & Criminal

The Bellevue Municipal Court handles all traffic and criminal misdemeanors committed within its jurisdiction. The Court also holds initial and preliminary hearings for felony cases committed within its jurisdiction.

Misdemeanor traffic and criminal pretrials are conducted on Mondays, except on holidays, beginning at 9:00 a.m. (time may vary due defense attorney availability).

Failure to Appear

Failure to appear in Court for a scheduled date may result in the following actions:

  • An arrest warrant will be issued for your failure to appear. You may be required to post bond.
  • The Court will notify the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles of your failure to appear. The BMV may withhold the issuance or renewal of your driver's license and registration, and may suspend your driving privileges until the case is formally closed.

Waiverable Offenses

  • There are certain traffic and criminal violations that can be resolved without appearing in Court. If your citation qualifies, payment can be made either in person, by mail, through the call center, or on-line.
  • Payment MUST be made in full. Partial payments are not accepted. If a waiverable offense cannot be paid in full, you will be required to appear in Court on the date written on your citation.
  • All waivers on traffic offenses must include proof of insurance (financial responsibility), unless proof shown is noted on the citation.

If the Bellevue Municipal Court is closed, the Bellevue Police Department, located at 3000 Seneca Industrial Parkway, Bellevue, OH is open 24-hours a day and will accept the posting of bond.

No credit cards or debit cards will be accepted when posting bond at the Police Department or the Court.
